Our CRESCENT edges laminate countertop trim is a custom-made traditional crescent-style edge. A soft curve similar in shape to a “bullnose” granite edge. CRESCENT Edges Laminate Countertop Trim Components
The substrate (backside or base) we use to manufacture our custom CRESCENT edges laminate countertop trim is MR-50 rated moisture resistant medium density fiberboard (MDF). For our CRESCENT edges, HPL (High-Pressure Laminate a.k.a. the laminate) is glued and pressed to the substrate using high strength glue. Both ends of every piece are finished with a 90-degree cut.
All materials used in manufacturing Gem State edges are either no or low VOC and all of the surface and seam materials are considered waterproof.
Sizing and Profiles
Our CRESCENT edge laminate countertop trim is manufactured in pieces that are 12-feet long* by 7/16-inch thick by 1 9/16-inches high. They have a soft curve face similar in shape to a “bullnose” granite countertop edge and come with a flat back (FB) mounting surface style.
*For shipping purposes, all 12-foot lengths will be cut at 94 3/4-inches plus off fall measuring 47-inches. We ship in 8-foot tubes at a flat shipping rate of $65.
CRESCENT Edges Installation
Our CRESCENT edges laminate countertop trim can be installed by anyone with decent carpentry skills and tools. The tools and skills needed to install our CRESCENT laminate countertop edges are common for carpenters and countertop fabricators.
A miter saw and optionally a disk sander are needed to cut to length and miter the corners. Our CRESCENT edges are composed of MDF and laminate, so no special blades are needed for cutting.
Masking tape and good waterproof wood glue, such as Titebond® III, are all that is needed for attaching our CRESCENT laminate edges to the countertop’s substrate. A damp rag is recommended for cleaning up squeeze out glue.
Finally, a good wax surface treatment is recommended if you wish to really make it shine. We recommend PROTECTALL™ Shine Plus. It’s great for the laminate countertop as well.
Warranty
Gem State Edging warrants to the original owner of our CRESCENT laminate countertop edges, installed by a professional and in a professional manner, that at its option will replace our product if it fails due to any manufacturing defect during the first 10 years after initial installation, except for damage caused by excessive heat, physical or chemical abuse, or acts of nature.
The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to our laminate countertop edges (1) installed by a professional, (2) purchased for use in the United States and it’s territories, Canada or Mexico, (3) which has not been moved from it’s original place of installation, (4) which fails solely due to manufacturing defect.
Gem State Edging can not be held liable for the failure of any glue lines not produced at the time of manufacture. Warranty extends only to replacement of our Bevel edges and backsplashes and does not extend to any labor and/or materials necessary for re-installation of the product. Furthermore, Gem State Edging shall not be held liable for any loss, direct, consequential, or incidental damages arising out of the use of our Bevel edges and backsplashes or any other products manufactured, distributed, or recommended by Gem State Edging.
